The Trix 24476 is an articulated double pocket wagon of type Sdggmrss (T3000e) reproduced in H0 1/87. It represents a six-axle vehicle for TX Logistik, intended for modern rail-road combined transport. The wagon carries a deep black base livery, with a configuration featuring four folding side devices, and a service condition corresponding to the period from 2020. It is delivered loaded with two tarpaulin semi-trailers in the livery of the carrier Paneuropa.

This model is aimed at enthusiasts of contemporary goods traffic who want to build realistic intermodal runs in Epoch VI. With a length over buffers of 39.3 cm, this articulated wagon is a particularly expressive piece within a combined transport consist.

The real rail vehicle

Pocket wagons are designed for unaccompanied combined transport, meaning that the rail carriage is used to move loading units that are usually transported by road. The lowered central section, known as the pocket, accommodates the wheels and the support elements of a semi-trailer. This design makes it possible to transport semi-trailers without a road tractor, while maintaining continuity between rail terminals and logistics platforms.

The T3000e type belongs to the family of modern wagons used in combined transport. An articulated double pocket wagon combines two wagon sections resting on a common central bogie. This six-axle architecture offers high loading capacity while forming an articulated vehicle suited to long intermodal freight trains. Depending on their equipment, these wagons can also be used with containers or swap bodies.

In real operations, combined transport trains connect, among other things, ports, inland terminals, distribution platforms, and major industrial corridors. They frequently combine pocket wagons, container flat wagons, and wagons intended for swap bodies, with loads marked in various ways. The Sdggmrss is therefore representative of contemporary European rail freight.

TX Logistik and Paneuropa livery

The model represents a TX Logistik wagon in deep black. The load consists of two sliding tarpaulin semi-trailers carrying the Paneuropa lettering. The combination of a pocket wagon and road transport semi-trailers directly illustrates the principle of combined traffic: the road transport units continue their journey by rail for part of the route.

This livery fits well with the reproduction of a modern freight train from Epoch VI. It allows you to stage a current intermodal scene, between a terminal area, a freight station, a port, or a miniature logistics platform.

The Trix scale model

The two wagon halves are metal-built and mounted so they can move on the central bogie. This articulation reproduces the characteristic arrangement of the real wagon and emphasizes the elongated silhouette of the double pocket wagon. The model is equipped with Y25 bogies.

The folding side devices are installed at the factory and are functional. They can be raised for presenting the wagon with containers or swap bodies. The model also includes many separately fitted parts, including steps, brake lines, and handrails at the ends. Buffer height conforms to NEM standards.

Two kingpin supports in both high and low versions are supplied as add-on parts. Air reservoirs for the ends of the wagon are also included. The two Paneuropa tarpaulin semi-trailers form the delivered load with the wagon.

Using it on a model railway layout

The Trix 24476 naturally fits into an intermodal freight consist from Epoch VI. It can be integrated into a train made up of multiple pocket wagons, container flat wagons, and swap-body wagons. Its semi-trailer load provides an immediately recognizable rail scene and strengthens the realism of operations between two combined transport terminals.

On an H0 layout, it suits installations representing modern freight, whether on a major electrified main line, a marshalling yard, an intermodal terminal, or a logistics service. Trix also indicates that modern electric locomotives from series 186, 189, 193 or 248 can accompany this type of wagon in a contemporary consist.
