Built between 1913 and 1920 in France and Great Britain, the 140 C locomotives are legendary machines that operated on the French network in both the eastern and western regions. 140 C 38 is one of the last steam locomotives to have run in commercial service in France, in 1975. Their tenders could carry 18 cubic meters of water and 5 tons of coal. Depending on the era and region of operation, they sported various liveries ranging from plain black to black with a green boiler and polished brass trim. In addition, red or yellow stripes altered the overall appearance of the locomotive: these are variants offered by Jouef.
