The LokSound 5 Fx is a unique feature of the LokSound family: lacking an output, it is specifically designed for control cars or drive heads that require sound but lack a propulsion system. The absence of a motor allows it to offer all the sound features of other LokSound 5 models in a compact 21.5 mm x 15.5 mm package.

The LokSound 5 Fx decoders are offered with an 8-pole interface according to NEM652 or a 21MTC cut point and are always supplied with an 11 x 15 mm "sugar cube" speaker kit and a sound capsule.

Modes:

Like all members of the family, the LokSound 5 Fx is a true multi-protocol decoder. It handles the DCC data format as well as Motorola®, Selectrix®, and M4 formats. In DCC format, 14 to 128 driving steps are as straightforward as 2- and 4-digit addresses, and up to 32 functions are supported. Thanks to RailComPlus® technology, the decoders automatically register with a suitable digital center.

It supports all DCC programming modes and can be controlled and programmed with compatible digital control centers: thanks to RailCom®, it is possible to read CV values on the main track using suitable control panels. Auxiliary registers are available for control panels that can only program CVs from 1 to 255.

Motorola® users benefit from up to 28 control steps across 255 addresses. Three additional Motorola® addresses enable the triggering of 16 functions. A built-in programming mode also allows reprogramming with the popular 6021 control unit. The M4 protocol enables automatic connection to compatible mfx® control panels.

The LokSound 5 Fx decoder detects Märklin® braking distances as well as ZIMO® HLU braking controls or the Lenz® ABC system. Braking with DCC brake shoes or DC voltage is also possible. It also stops with a Selectrix® braking diode. An ABC system for commuter trains enables automatic shuttling between two stations.

The LokSound 5 decoder can be used on analog DC and AC networks.

The decoder automatically switches between operating modes "on the fly". Most of the time, no adjustments are necessary.

The LokSound 5 Fx decoder can play up to 12 channels simultaneously. Each channel can be resolved up to 16 bits/31,250 kHz, delivering hi-fi quality to your system. There is virtually no difference from the original sound. A Class D audio output stage, with a maximum power of 3 W, drives speakers with impedances ranging from 4 to 32 ohms. Ample audio memory capacity is provided by 128 Mbit/s.

The volume of each sound can be adjusted individually. The ultra-flexible sound engine, without fixed programming, allows for exemplary simulation of all imaginable railway vehicles.

Functions:

It's also possible to turn on lights in the control car or the powerhead. That's why we've equipped the LokSound 5 Fx with 6 enhanced function outputs. The version with the 21MTC interface adds 6 outputs for servo control or logic-level outputs. All essential lighting functions are available. The brightness of each output is independently adjustable.

Engine :

Although the LokSound 5 Fx doesn't have a motor output, it simulates one. This is used for synchronization with the locomotive, where ideally a full LokSound 5 decoder performs this function. In the train, this ensures that the brakes squeal or the lights change direction simultaneously.

Operational reliability:

A PowerPack can be connected to the LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct Kato USA on request to fill in dirty rail sections.

Protection:
