The SwitchPilot 3 decoders are optimized for stationary use on your system and can switch conventional dual-coil switch drives, light signals, magnetic decouplers, light bulbs, or other fixed loads. To simplify the rather bulky setup of magnetic motor decoders, the SwitchPilot 3 has an innovative control concept consisting of a backlit 4-line OLED display and three input buttons.

The modes:

The SwitchPilot 3 is multi-protocol and can be used with Märklin® Motorola® system workstations (e.g., 6021, Central Station®, or Mobile Station®) as well as with DCC-compatible control panels. Configuration can take place on both the main track and the programming track. Thanks to RailCom®, CVs can also be read.

Functioning :

The SwitchPilot 3 can be powered directly from the digital system or from an external DC or voltage converter source. It has a total of 8 transistor outputs, grouped into 4 output pairs (1 to 4). Each output pair contains two outputs (OutA and OutB) and can be individually configured for the desired application: In pulse mode, the output is activated upon receiving a switching command. The fact that the output automatically deactivates once the time stored in the decoder has elapsed prevents the magnetic item readers from burning out. This operating mode is suitable for turnout drives with a permanent stop or for stripping. In bistable continuous operation (k84 compatible), both outputs are switched on and off: Pressing the first button (red) on the control panel activates Out A. It remains active until pressing the assigned button (green) activates Out B of the same output group. Out A and Out B function as a changeover switch. In alternating flashing mode, Out A and Out B of a pair of outputs are activated alternately at an adjustable flashing frequency. The changeover indicator is started with the "Green" command of the assigned key and stopped again with the "Branching/Red" command. With mode switch 3, you can switch all output pairs simultaneously to "k83" or "k84" modes instantly, regardless of their current configuration.

Feedback :

Because the SwitchPilot 3 is RailCom® compatible, all parameters can be read and modified directly in the integrated state on demand. Combined with an ECoS as its ideal partner, the SwitchPilot 3 can record and display the actual turnout setting with properly prepared turnout drives. Finally, you can be certain that your switch has indeed flipped!

Setting :

The SwitchPilot 3 can be flexibly configured either on the programming track with DCC control panels, or on the main track with POM (Programming on Main), or it can also be read via RailCom® CVs. Upon request, it can also learn addresses directly via a programming button. The easiest way to configure it is, of course, with the integrated OLED display and the three input buttons: all parameters can be checked directly on the decoder and changed as needed. Programming using your control panel is not required. It really couldn't be easier. The ESU LokProgrammer can be used for firmware updates.

Protection:

As with our locomotive decoders, the SwitchPilot 3's outputs are extensively protected against overload. We want you to enjoy your decoder for as long as possible.
