In the late 1910s, Prussia developed the T14 tender locomotive, based on proven components of the G8.1, and initially used it for traffic in Berlin. Of the 497 locomotives built in total, many were used in various European countries after World War II, including Poland, Belgium, and Austria. While the Deutsche Bahn (DB) used these locomotives until 1960, they remained in service with the Deutsche Bahn (DR) until 1971, primarily in Berlin and the surrounding area.
