The Minitrix 16489 model reproduces an American heavy steam locomotive of the Union Pacific Railroad (UP) , Class 3700 "Challenger" , in its rebuilt version with an oil-fired tender . This reproduction corresponds to engine number 3704 , in its 1950s condition.

This N scale 1/160 model is a digital locomotive equipped with a decoder and extensive sound functions . It features a regulated high-performance motor , 6 driving axles , traction tires , and a smoke generator .

The lighting system includes headlights that change direction depending on the direction of travel , illuminated number plates , and digitally controllable cab lighting . All lighting uses maintenance-free warm white LEDs .

The locomotive features an articulated chassis for curve negotiation and Boxpok wheels . The minimum stated radius for curve negotiation is 261.8 mm . The length over buffers with couplings is approximately 23 cm .
