The Lotus 72 is considered by many to be the most beautiful, innovative, and iconic Formula One racing car of the 1970s. Colin Chapman's revolutionary idea of moving the radiator from the front of the car to a pair of sidepods brought about a radical change in the appearance, handling, and capabilities of Formula One cars. Initially in gold foil colors, and later in the stunning black and gold livery of JPS, the Lotus 72 swept everything before it in the early 1970s, proving itself to be the class of the field. Powered by an equally legendary engine – the Ford Cosworth DFV 3.0 V8 – the Lotus combined the power of this world-class engine with handling that left the rest of the field behind. This chassis – ID number 7 (of 9) – was raced in the 1972 British Grand Prix by soon-to-be World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi. Around the limits of the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, Emerson emerged victorious from Jackie Stewart's Tyrrell by just 4 seconds as he raced towards this year's crown.
This stunning Pocher model features meticulous detail, from the monocoque chassis and suspension to the incredibly detailed engine and cockpit. With all logos faithfully recreated and real rubber tires, this impressive 1:8 scale model will be the star of any collection of motorsport heroes, famous cars, or works of art.
