Beilhack snowplow of the Swiss Federal Railways.
■ Functional digital model!
■ Self-propelled model
■ Large, fully functional paddle wheels
■ 180° rotating body
■ Elaborate model with numerous functions switchable in digital mode
The decommissioning of the Rotary steam snowblower used on the Gotthard Pass, along with the need to expand the fleet of snowblowers and maintain a reserve, led to the acquisition in 1980 of two self-propelled diesel snowblowers from the Beilhack company of Rosenheim, Germany. This model, already delivered to Norway and Austria, is also proving its worth on the Gotthard Pass, with both snowblowers being, or having been, stationed at Göschenen and Erstfeld. A distinctive feature of this design is that the entire vehicle axle can be rotated 180°, thus allowing the direction of travel to be reversed.
Note: The model can only be used to a limited extent in analog mode, which is why we recommend digital mode. In analog mode, the snow blower starts moving, the front lights and rolling noise are activated, as are the paddle wheels.
