While there was a shortage of many metals for the manufacture of real locomotives during the Second World War and a need to produce many locomotives at reduced cost, we have gone the other way with our new Arnold model!

Our N scale heavy freight train locomotive is almost entirely made of die-cast metal.

The motor located in the boiler is quiet, powerful and has a brass flywheel.

The space needed to place a decoder and a speaker is provided in the tender.

This steam engine, designed for freight traffic and particularly for heavy coal trains in Germany and Austria, is perfectly suited for hauling the new Arnold models of wagons included in sets HN6381, HN6382 and HN6383.

Production of the 42 series steam locomotives, originally known as "Kriegslokomotive KDL 3", began in 1943.

After the end of World War II, the approximately 1,000 machines produced were dispersed throughout Europe.

In 1949, production continued in Austria for 76 units and in Poland for 126 units.

At ÖBB, the last Br42 locomotive was not taken out of service until 1968, and a little earlier in Germany.
