Locomotives 185 551-557, along with those of the DB-185, were the first TRAXX locomotives to be approved for use in France. They were delivered to MRCE in 2005/06 in a black livery. In December 2022, the Nightjet Paris - Cologne - Vienna service was launched. This night train service is jointly operated by SNCF and the Austrian Federal Railways (Österreichische Bundesbahnen). Specially designed locomotives are used to precede the trains.
