Since January 1, 2021, the RAlpin "Ferroutage" between Freiburg im Breisgau and Novara Boschetto has been operated by locomotives of the 186 series. The 186 909 is the only locomotive to bear the striking "Nightpiercer" design on the face of the SBB, which distinguishes it from other locomotives.
