In 2019, ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG put a new high-performance snowplow into service. The machine, used to clear snow-covered railway tracks, is equipped with two 12-cylinder MAN engines, each producing 793 kW (approximately 1,100 hp). One engine powers the vehicle, while the other drives the snow blower. The snow blower can throw up to 10,000 tons of snow per hour to a distance of 40 meters. For transfer runs, it is approved for speeds of up to 100 km/h. A 180° rotating slewing ring allows the machine to turn on the spot, enabling it to handle even the most challenging alpine weather conditions.
