150.Y.16 steam locomotive of the French National Railway Company.

Drive via two axles of the tender and via a cardan shaft, on the five driving axles of the locomotive.

In 1943/44, over 100 Class 52 locomotives were built at the Société Alsacienne de Constructions Mécaniques (SACM) locomotive factory in Graffenstaden, near Strasbourg. In 1945/46, 17 more locomotives were built for the SNCF (French National Railways). In France, the Class 52 was designated as the 150 Y. A distinctive feature of these locomotives was their shorter chimney, designed to comply with French loading gauge regulations. In the eastern region of the SNCF, the 150 Y locomotives hauled both heavy freight trains and passenger trains. They remained in service there until the late 1950s.
