In stock

The Märklin 48426 Christmas wagon is a four-axle, self-unloading hopper wagon, reproduced in H0 scale (1:87) . It represents a Fad 155 type wagon, formerly designated OOtz 41 / Erz IIId , in a Christmas livery attributed to the fictional private company Weihnachtsbahn (WB) , the "Christmas Railway." This 2026 edition makes a unique railway gift idea and complements the Märklin 2025 Christmas wagon.

The model is presented in Era IV and features the characteristic silhouette of a freight wagon. Its Christmas-themed decoration is particularly distinguished by its cargo, which resembles gold nuggets , visible inside the wagon body. This detailing makes the model suitable for a festive train set, a seasonal display, or a model railway showcase.

The actual equipment

Fad-type wagons belong to the family of open wagons designed for transporting heavy goods and bulk cargo. Their automatic unloading system allows for the rapid removal of the load to suitable facilities. This type of equipment was particularly used in raw material transport, where transport capacity and the speed of handling operations were essential.

With its four axles, the wagon offers an architecture suited to transporting heavy loads. The presence of a brakeman's platform and a front steering wheel is reminiscent of the braking and shunting equipment seen on many freight wagons of this generation.

Christmas Railway Decorations

This model features a Christmas livery for the Weihnachtsbahn, abbreviated WB. Märklin transforms a realistically inspired freight car into festive rolling stock, while retaining the technical identity of a self-unloading wagon. The load of gold nuggets accentuates the festive and decorative character of this edition.

The Märklin 48426 wagon can be displayed on its own as a collector's item or as part of a Christmas display. It is designed as a direct complement to the Märklin 48425 Christmas wagon (2025 ). It can also be placed in a festive railway setting alongside other Christmas models offered by Märklin.

The scale model

The miniature wagon features a detailed version with a brakeman's platform and a front steering wheel . The "gold nuggets" loading insert is included, instantly giving the wagon its Christmas train appearance. Its length, excluding buffers, is approximately 11.5 cm .

For operation on a two-rail DC network, Märklin specifies the replacement axles E700580 . This designation facilitates the adaptation of the wagon to an installation using this power supply system.

Use on a miniature network

In HO scale, this wagon naturally finds its place in a special Christmas train, on a festively decorated layout, or in a Märklin seasonal wagon collection. It can also be displayed on a siding, in front of a depot, in a freight yard, or as part of a special event train. Its golden cargo and festive livery make it a particularly eye-catching element in a model railway composition.
