ESU ECoSDetector 16-input feedback module, including 4 RailCom-compatible inputs. Connection via ECoSlink bus to an ECoS control unit, with advertised compatibility with updated Central Station. Suitable for HO 2-rail DCC/MM layouts.
Characteristic :
Brand: Esu
Ref: 50094
Scale: HO
> Operation: 2 DCC/MM rails
Feedback module with 16 inputs, including 4 RailCom inputs.
Connection to the ECoS digital control unit via ECoSlink bus (can also be connected to a Märklin Central Station)
The ECoSDetector is compatible with all ECoS or Central Station® control stations (provided the Central Station® has been updated with the Central Station® upgrade software) and can detect up to 16 track sections. Two- or three-rail track can be directly connected to the module. In addition to the 16 track occupancy or return section detectors, each ECoSDetector can also detect a locomotive ID on up to four track sections, provided RailCom® decoders are used. If desired, the ECoSDetector's functionality can be extended with the ECoSDetector Extension module. When docked to the side of the ECoSDetector, it provides up to 32 outputs, each displaying the status of the track sections with a control LED or triggering an appropriate blocking signal.
Detection and feedback
The ECoSDetector can monitor up to 16 track sections and signals, as well as the presence of a locomotive (track occupancy). Each of the 16 inputs has a maximum current capacity of 3A. The ECoSDetector module also has two separate power inputs and can be powered by two separate Booster units.
Optocouplers are used to provide reliable detection. Two-rail or three-rail operation is easily selected using jumpers.
Entry devices
Up to 16 standard switching devices can also be used as inputs. Reed switches, detection track sections, pushbuttons, or toggle switches can all be connected to the inputs. The information is then processed in the control station.
Train ID detection
In addition to conventional track occupancy detection, each ECoSDetector has the added capability of monitoring four of the 16 track sections for train identification: Using RailCom® technology (so-called "local detectors"), you can not only easily discover that a locomotive is currently present on that section of track, but also identify which locomotive it is (train identification detection). However, this only works with RailCom®-compatible locomotive decoders.
Clever
With knowledge of the train's specific position, new functions can be implemented using the ECoS control station's route control module. For example, you can automatically activate a locomotive's horn when it is about to cross a level crossing or determine which locomotive is parked in the hidden yard.
It is also possible to de-bounce switching inputs or electronically track presence detectors to ensure reliable feedback in case of unreliable contact or very dirty tracks.
ECoSlink connection
Each ECoSDetector can be directly connected to the control station via the ECoSlink bus. In addition to all ECoS control stations, you can also use the Central Station® (upgradeable with ESU software updates). Galvanic isolation of the bus systems and the control station ensures optimal reliability and dependable data transmission to the control station.
All ECoSDetector modules will be automatically detected by the control station, and the information will be integrated into the operational control routine. Device configuration can also be performed directly via the control station after installation.
Scalable
If necessary, the ECoSDetector software can be upgraded to add new features. The control station will perform the required updates fully automatically. This will ensure that the ECoSDetector remains at the most up-to-date technical state at all times.
