The Z21 Profi digital kit Roco 1000020 brings together the essential components of a complete digital control setup for a model railway. It includes a Z21 digital control center, a wireless Z21 WLANMAUS newGen throttle, a Wi‑Fi router, and a power supply unit. With its universal design, this set forms the control core of a model railway equipped for digital operation.

The Z21 control center connects the model railway, digital locomotives, and control devices within a single system. It enables operation using the Wi‑Fi Z21 WLANMAUS newGen throttle, as well as a connected smartphone or tablet over Wi‑Fi. This makes it possible to run trains from different points around the layout without relying on a fixed control desk.

Digital control on a model railway

In model railroading, a digital control center transmits running and control commands via the track. Locomotives equipped with a digital decoder receive this information to set speed, direction, and the available functions. The digital system also allows control of accessories such as turnouts and signals when they are equipped with suitable decoders.

The Z21 is designed as an expandable control center. Its many interfaces make it possible to integrate control devices, feedback modules, switching modules, or extensions intended to develop the layout step by step. Its network interface also provides a foundation for computer-assisted operation and for automating a model railway.

Wireless Z21 WLANMAUS newGen throttle

The Z21 WLANMAUS newGen is a wireless handheld controller using Wi‑Fi. It allows you to select a locomotive, set its running, and access digital functions over the network. Its ergonomic layout combines a backlit display, large buttons, and a rotary speed regulator with a zero detent, enabling precise control of miniature trains.

The throttle also supports managing electromagnetic accessories on the layout, such as turnouts or signals equipped with digital decoders. The freedom of movement provided by the Wi‑Fi connection is particularly appreciated on medium to large layouts, as well as during multi-operator operation.

Use on the layout

This kit is suitable for creating a digital layout or for upgrading an existing installation to the Z21 ecosystem. It enables simultaneous control of multiple locomotives from multiple compatible control devices. A tablet or smartphone can complement the Z21 WLANMAUS newGen throttle to visualize and operate the layout using the Z21 application.

The Z21 control center supports locomotives equipped with DCC or Motorola decoders. Analog locomotives without a digital decoder are not intended to operate with this control center. A separate programming track is provided for programming decoders and for updating compatible ZIMO decoders.

This reference replaces the previous Roco Z21 control center pack with WLANMAUS, reference 10834.
