The ROCO Z21 WLANMAUS newGen (ref. 1008001) is a wireless, scale-free digital control system designed for operating digital model railways. It allows you to control trains, activate their digital functions, operate turnouts and signals, and perform programming operations. This new generation succeeds the Z21 WLANMAUS and retains a familiar feel while offering a completely redesigned interface.

Wireless control offers great freedom of movement around the model railway. It is equally suitable for operating a train from the most convenient vantage point and for multi-operator play sessions. The Z21 WLANMAUS newGen combines essential operating controls in a portable format: locomotive selection, speed adjustment, use of digital functions, and control of track switches.

Digital control allows for the separation of locomotive operation from the control of network equipment. Each digital locomotive can thus be operated individually, while lighting, sounds, and other functions available on the rolling stock can be activated from the control panel. Digital switches and signals also contribute to a more dynamic operation, particularly during shunting, station operations, and route planning.

ROCO equips the Z21 WLANMAUS newGen with a 2-inch color screen , touted as particularly sharp and readable. The menu organization has been redesigned to offer intuitive navigation, even with one hand. The displays are individually adjustable to three sizes, allowing users to tailor the presentation to their preferences and the information they need to view during operation.

The control system features a locomotive library with photos , directly imported from the Z21 database. This visual presentation simplifies the identification of the controlled rolling stock on layouts with multiple locomotives. The endless rotary governor, combined with a push-button function, offers two operating modes: continuous control or operation with a conventional zero position and vibration feedback. This design combines smooth driving with tactile cues useful during precise maneuvers.

The Z21 WLANMAUS newGen is battery-powered and features a USB-C port for charging. This eliminates the need for a cable while driving and is ideal for mobile use around the network. Batteries are not included; instructions for their use are provided in the included user manual.

This controller is particularly well-suited to digital layouts that require a comprehensive and user-friendly portable interface. It is equally at home on a home layout dedicated to train operation as it is on a more complex setup, managing turnouts, signals, and numerous locomotive functions. Its scale-free design makes it relevant for modelers using a Z21 digital controller, regardless of the nominal size of their layout.
