Function decoder. Cannot be used on a locomotive to control a motor.
The LokPilot 5 Fx is a function decoder without a motor output, making it ideal for installation in control cars or function models. Because it communicates with DCC via RailCom® as well as Motorola® and Selectrix, it can be used with all common digital control centers. It shares its flexible radio-onskey assignment and numerous lighting effects with other ESU LokPilot 5 decoders.
The LokPilot 5 Fx is supplied in three variants: In addition to the "classic" version with 8-pin NEM 652 harness, a variant for the 21MTC interface and with the PluX22 interface is also available.
Modes:
The LokPilot 5 Fx is a multi-protocol decoder. It supports the DCC data format as well as Motorola® and Selectrix®. In DCC format, 14 to 128 driving steps are as intuitive as 2- and 4-digit addresses. Up to 28 functions can be triggered. Thanks to RailComPlus®, the decoders register fully automatically with a suitable digital center (e.g., ECoS).
It supports all DCC programming modes and can be used and programmed with all DCC-compatible digital control centers: RailCom® also allows reading CV values on the main track with suitable control panels. Auxiliary registers are available for control panels that can only program CVs from 1 to 255 (e.g., ROCO® multi-mouse).
Motorola® users benefit from up to 28 driving steps across 255 addresses. Three additional Motorola® addresses enable the triggering of 16 functions. A built-in programming mode also allows reprogramming with the venerable Control Unit 6021.
The LokPilot 5 Fx decoder is compatible with ZIMO®-HLU / ZACK-Brems- or Lenz® ABC (Märklin®-Bremsstrecke) control systems. Braking with DCC brake shoes or equivalent voltage is also possible. Furthermore, it can be brought to a complete stop using a Selectrix® brake diode. An ABC automatic commuter train enables automatic shuttling between two stations. Although this decoder lacks a motor output, this is an important feature for a function decoder, allowing for the synchronization of control and powered cars.
The LokPilot 5 FX decoder can be used on both analog DC and AC networks. The decoder switches between operating modes fully automatically and on the fly. Most of the time, no adjustments are necessary.
Functions:
The LokPilot 5 Fx is equipped with an impressive number of function outputs. Depending on the version, each LokPilot 5 Fx decoder offers at least 10 reinforced function outputs, each with a 250 mA output current. Versions with a PluX22 or 21MTC interface add four servo control outputs or logic-level outputs. All essential lighting functions are available, and the brightness of each output can be adjusted independently.
Interactions:
The LokPilot 5 Fx is designed for interaction with LokSound 5 and LokPilot 5 decoders: for example, it is possible to equip the locomotive with a LokSound 5 decoder and the control car with a LokPilot 5 Fx. Given the same address, both behave identically. The identical CV layout simplifies the tuning of the two decoders.
