The painting on this railway carriage depicts a snow-covered country station in the Pre-Alps, with an imposing mountain range in the background, in the early afternoon at 2:05 PM. The station name most likely ends in "...dorf," as the last two letters of the sign on the station building are "...rf." The stationmaster, also known as "Little Red Riding Hood," stands on the platform, holding a "Zp9" signal (a German railway signal), and waves to the driver of the Pacific Class 01 express locomotive—likely coupled to a heavy, high-end express train—as it speeds through the station. On the opposite track, a brown Swiss-type electric locomotive, perhaps pulling a commuter train, is heading towards the Alps.
