A touch of the French Riviera.
"Ligure," "Mistral," or "Train Bleu": for decades, these luxury trains transported the rich and famous to the French Riviera. In the 1970s, these legendary trains were equipped with a type of locomotive whose sophisticated technology and extravagant design made its mark on the history of French railways. Railway workers weren't the only ones to nickname this engine "broken nose," alluding to the unusual shape of its head, designed by Paul Arzens. It was almost a revolutionary alternative to the rectangular and rather "boring" locomotive bodies used until then. The BB 22200 series was thus perfectly suited to the unique and exclusive charm of the world-renowned French Riviera. Moreover, thanks to their multi-system technology, the 22200s could be used throughout France. This allowed, for example, a 1,000 km overnight journey between Paris and Ventimiglia via Nice, at the head of the legendary "Train Bleu." Until the arrival of the TGV high-speed trains, the 22200 series – 205 built in total – were the star locomotives of the SNCF. Many examples still run today in the rather mundane service of regional and freight trains. Their extravagant appearances on the real line are therefore now a thing of the past. On a smaller scale, however, the excellent new Märklin model evokes the era when the "Broken Nose" caused a sensation, and not just on the Mediterranean coast.
Scale model: With mfx+ digital decoder and numerous sound functions. Centrally mounted, high-performance motor with flywheel. All four axles are cardan shaft driven. Traction tires. The three-light headlight and two red end-of-train lights (which reverse depending on the direction of travel) are always on in conventional operation; they can be selected in digital mode. Separate selection of the headlights on sides 1 and 2 of the locomotive is possible in digital mode. Double A-light function. The cab lighting is switchable in digital mode. Lighting is provided by maintenance-free warm white and red LEDs. Includes a buffer tank. Numerous separate parts such as windshield wipers, ventilation grilles, handrails, and roof vents. Detailed roof structures with new-style pantographs and various bows. Buffer height conforms to NEM standards. Brake lines, screw couplings, and various power outlets are supplied as plug-in parts. ht length: 20.3 cm.
You will find this model in a version for 2 rail cc systems in the Trix H0 range, under reference 25163.
