On May 22, 1975, the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) introduced the "Swiss Express" train category, coinciding with the opening of the "Heitersberg" line, and operated these trains until 1982. This category replaced the older intercity express trains. They were considered the new flagship of the SBB and served the most important route, Geneva–St. Gallen. The trains were hauled by eight Re 4/4 II locomotives specifically designed for this line. Today, unfortunately, only trains 11108 and 11109 retain the livery of that era.
With the Re 4/4 II 11108, we announce one of the most popular locomotives. The "Millefeuille," as it is also affectionately known, which was in service until 2021, is now stored in Olten awaiting its future assignment.
