The BB 25200 series locomotives were SNCF multi-current locomotives designed for high-performance express train service. They were intended for use on both 1.5 kV DC electrified networks and 25 kV 50 Hz AC networks. Compared to their sister series, the BB 9200 and BB 16000, they achieved a maximum speed of 160 km/h. Locomotives hauling the prestigious "Mistral" line trains from Paris to Nice via Marseille had a corresponding metal plate mounted on the front.
