The flying Scotsman in black!

Famous worldwide, fast, powerful, and a true legend: The steam locomotive with the evocative name "Flying Scotsman" set a series of world records and thus made its mark on railway history. For decades, it hauled the eponymous British express train, which ran non-stop between Edinburgh and London. In 1934, it became the first steam locomotive to reach the magical speed of 100 mph (160 km/h) and even toured the United States and Australia. For the centenary of this powerful three-cylinder locomotive, Märklin released the current museum version in its famous green livery in 2023. Now, a special black version is available, which, with its exceptional features, tells the story of a fascinating era in locomotive history. During the Second World War and for a few years afterward, the famous green livery was replaced with an elegant black one, similar to that worn by many British steam locomotives at the time. Towards the end of the major overhaul begun in 2006, the black livery was reintroduced to protect the locomotive during final assembly and testing. During this period, visitors of all ages had the opportunity to admire the "Flying Scotsman" in this unique state, for example in 2011 and 2012 at "Railfest," a major railway festival held in conjunction with the London Olympic Games and the 800th anniversary of the city of York. The locomotive appeared in this livery for the last time in January/February 2016 for further testing and trials. Since then, it has regained its British Railways green livery and delighted railway fans in England and elsewhere under registration number 60103. In the form of this magnificent new Märklin model, this special version of the Flying Scotsman comes to life on a small scale and tells another important chapter in the life of this fascinating European steam monster.

Model: With mfx+ digital decoder and numerous light and sound functions. High-performance, regulated motor with flywheel in the boiler. Three driving axles. Traction tires. Locomotive and tender made primarily of metal. Integrated smoke generator as standard, with speed-dependent dynamic steam emission, selectable in digital mode. The locomotive's two-light headlight and a rear tender light remain on continuously in conventional operation, selectable in digital mode. The rear tender light can be switched to red. Separate selection of the locomotive's third front light – electric – is also possible and can be switched to red. The cab lighting and the signal box flashing are switchable in digital mode. The tender passageway lighting is switchable in digital mode. Lighting is provided by maintenance-free warm white and red LEDs. Adjustable close coupler with kinematic linkage between locomotive and tender. The tender has a variable-length close coupler with a NEM coupler box. Buffer height on locomotive and tender conforms to NEM standards. Brake hoses, imitation screw couplings, and closed cylinder covers are included. Approximate ht length: 24.5 cm.

The specific sound effects of the locomotive were provided to us with the kind support of Dovetail Games, Kent.
