Scale model: Made of metal. Chassis, locomotive superstructure with boiler and cab made of die-cast zinc. Other parts are primarily metal (brass). Realistically detailed model with numerous added parts and an ultra-detailed cab. Functional sand tank cover and functional smokebox door with central latch. Functional cab doors and many other details. mfx digital decoder with 32 functions, high-performance regulated motor, and sound generator with running sounds synchronized with wheel movement, as well as many other sound functions. Can be operated with AC, DC, Märklin Digital, and DCC. Built-in buffer capacitor. All driving axles are driven. Built-in smoke generator with steam emission synchronized with wheel movement, multi-stage steam cylinder, and steam whistle. Period-correct colored twin-headlights that change depending on the direction of travel. Front lighting is always on in conventional operating mode; it can be selected in digital mode. Lighting is provided by maintenance-free warm white LEDs.
Switchable red rear light. Driver's cab and light box illumination (flashing). Equipped with spring buffers, a screw coupling at the front and a remote-controlled Telex coupling at the rear (interchangeable with a screw coupling). 3-position control switch (forward, reverse, continuous).

The Golden Age of Travel
The powerful 241 A series steam locomotives appeared on French railways in the early 1930s. During the "golden age" of travel, before the Second World War, they hauled heavy express trains between Paris and the Atlantic ports of Cherbourg and Le Havre, as well as between Paris and Basel. On the latter route, they could also be seen at the head of the famous Arlberg-Orient-Express. After the war, they operated mainly between Paris and Strasbourg and between Paris and Basel until 1965. 241 A 1 is preserved at the Mulhouse Railway Museum, and 241 A 65 – the largest working steam locomotive in Europe – is in Switzerland.

Prototype: Heavy steam locomotive for express trains with separate tender, class 13 (241-A) of the Eastern Railway Company. Basic black livery with black chassis. Version as a locomotive for the "EDELWEISS" long-distance coach set. Type-specific modifications include smoke deflectors, a two-light headlight with oil lamps (one lamp at the top and one at the bottom), and many other features. EST locomotive operating number: 241-004. In service circa 1931 .
