> 8 outputs for servos.
> DCC or Motorola® mode
The SwitchPilot 3 servo decoders are optimized for stationary use on your system and can control up to eight RC servos. To simplify the often cumbersome setup of magnetic item decoders, the SwitchPilot 3 Servo features an innovative operating concept consisting of a backlit 4-line OLED display and three input buttons.
The modes:
The SwitchPilot 3 servo is multi-protocol and can be used with Märklin® Motorola® system workstations (e.g., 6021, Central Station®, or Mobile Station®) as well as with a DCC-compatible control unit. Configuration can be performed on both the main track and the programming track. Thanks to RailCom®, CVs can also be read.
Functioning :
The SwitchPilot 3 servo can be powered directly from the digital system or from an external DC or AC power source. The SwitchPilot 3 servo has eight outputs for controlling RC servos. This allows it to control these drives with such precision that, in addition to switching, other slow-motion sequences can be controlled. The SwitchPilot 3 servo features built-in power-up pulse suppression to eliminate or reduce "contractions" in the RC servo system when power is applied. Additionally, the servo power supply can be interrupted to prevent "hum" from some inexpensive servos. Each of the eight servos can be used in either "digital mode" or "proportional mode," introduced for the first time with the SwitchPilot 3 servo. In digital mode, the servo can start in two end positions, "A" and "B," depending on the switch position on the control panel. The position of the two end positions, as well as the speed at which the servo moves in the desired direction, can be individually set on the SwitchPilot 3 servo. Digital mode is ideal for switching switches or signals that must remain in a fixed position. In proportional mode, the servo can move and stop at any position between the end positions "A" and "B". The servo only operates while the control panel is sending a command. Releasing the button stops the servo. In this way, a servo can be stopped at any desired position. The servo speed can be individually adjusted. Proportional mode is ideal for (water) cranes, motorized hangar doors, or any other application where intermediate positions are also required. For each servo, in addition to the end positions and rotation speeds, it is possible to determine whether it should reverse direction upon reaching the end position. Furthermore, the servo pulse generation can be adjusted to suit different RC servos on the market, or the power supply to each servo can be individually cut off. This allows for optimal control of both inexpensive analog servos and modern digital servos (with microcontrollers).
Analog operation:
The SwitchPilot 3 servo can be used as a special function without a digital control panel: on request, up to 16 buttons can be connected for direct servo switching.
Setting:
The SwitchPilot 3's servo can be flexibly adjusted either on the programming track with DCC control panels, or on the main track with POM ("Programming on Main"), or it can also be read via RailCom® CVs. Upon request, it can also learn addresses directly via a programming button. Adjustment is, of course, easiest with the integrated OLED displays and three input buttons: all settings can be checked directly on the decoder and changed as needed. No "programming" with help from your headquarters is required. It really couldn't be easier. The ESU LokProgrammer can be used for firmware updates.
Protection:
As with our locomotive decoders, the SwitchPilot 3's outputs are extensively protected against overload. We want you to enjoy your decoder for as long as possible.
